Times are changing - as they’ve always done. But due to manmade climate and energy crises it happens way faster. We need to adjust our cities in order to safeguard the quality of life for future generations. What makes a city resilient? Which tools do we have and how can we use them?
In the first lecture “Learning from the past. The New Vienna Model” Ralf Bock of BauWerkStadt will transform the concept of the settlement movement in Vienna around 1920 into a contemporary suburban structure with circular economy and local cooperation, market garden and self-sufficiency, living and working, common ground and own contribution etc. Every architecture is political!
In the second lecture, Laura Lipensky of RATAPLAN and Bernhard Scharf of Green4Cities look at the advantages and challenges in greening existing buildings and how it helps us to influence the microclimate, safe energy and increase health and well-being.
Moderation: Hubert Huber
We will close with a public questions and answers session with the experts.
The event is organised by IG Architektur and held in cooperation with New European Bauhaus Festival
